Wide Angle

Digital Camera

A wide angle digital camera can be very useful for different reasons
but first let's answer the most important question:

What does a wide angle lens do?

Wide angle lenses give you a view "further back" in the frame than your typical 35mm lens. They are especially useful indoors where you can capture more of a room in your photo.

A lens is considered wide-angle when it's 30mm or below.

Wide angle digital camera can be very useful for real estate agent or anyone who wants to take interior photos of a house.

If you work in the real estate industry or simply needs to take good interior shots and want to get a wide angle digital camera you should consider the following:

  • Purchase a digital camera that comes with a wide-angle lens as standard (at least 28mm) or accepts an optional wide-angle converter (converters may cut off your viewfinder view, in which case the LCD monitor becomes an important feature when selecting your digital camera wide angle lens)

  • Select a digital camera who also accepts a powerful external flash which provides the full wide-angle coverage.

Many digital camera models take lens adapters that can use wide-angle add-on lenses, but these can be heavy and bulky, not the most practical solution.

For those with a larger budget, I would recommend a digital SLR with ultra wide angle lenses.

Another alternative to digital camera wide angle lens would be to take a number of panoramic shots and later stich them together.

You can achieve pretty good results using this method but it is time consuming.

Which Wide Angle digital Camera?

Several models are available but here my recommandation:

Canon S80

Nikon 8400

Olympus C-8080
