Sony DSC P200 Review

Sony DSC P200 Review

The Sony DSC P200 is one of the most compact 7-megapixel digital camera model, offering good performance, outstanding battery life, and adequate photo quality.

Similar in many respects to the preceding P150 model, the DSC P200 is offering a 3x optical zoom lens and an expanded range of nine preset scene modes to choose from.

The P200 is a capable and very compact digital camera.

Sony DSC P200 Review – Final Word

Overall, the Sony DSC P200 is a great little digital camera. If you are after a quality compact digital camera that fits in you hand or handbag it is an excellent choice. Ready to use quickly, good pictures and a great battery life makes the DSC P200 a good choice.

One point to consider is you will need the newer Memory Stick called "Memory Stick Pro" which has faster read/write capabilities to shoot a video clip with the DSC-P200. The Memory Stick Pro is more expensive so you might want to include that in your budget.

Sony DSC P200 Review – Memory

As usual a small memory stick is included when you buy a Sony DSC P200. With the 32 megabytes (MB) provided by Sony, you will take approximately 10 pictures if you set the camera on high resolution before having to empty your memory card!

There is no fixed rule for the number of photos you can put on one card because different image file types, different amounts of compression, and image content all affect the size of each file.

As a general rule, I'd recommend at least 256 megabytes or two 128 megabyte stick if you're buying a 3-5 megapixel compact digital camera.

However, the P200 has 7 megapixel meaning the pictures you will be taking will take more space on the memory stick so I recommend a 512 MB.

Keep in mind that sometimes memory cards or memory sticks can be get corrupted or lost. I always carry with me a 256 MB just in case something goes wrong.
